About Me:
I have been teaching Elementary General Music and Chorus since September of 1990.
I did my student-teaching at the Byam School in Chelmsford with the legendary
Mrs. Wilder. I subsequently taught at the Harrington School in Chelmsford my first year
out of college. I began teaching Music in Westford in the Fall of 1991. I was so impressed
with the Town of Westford, that I moved here in the Fall of 1993. I currently teach at
the Robinson (K-2) and Crisafulli Schools (3-5).
I have always been drawn to all of the Arts, especially Music and Literature. Initially,
I planned to be a writer and graduated from U. Mass/Lowell in 1980 with a degree in
English. After graduating, I found myself becoming increasingly involved with
musical pursuits and eventually went back to receive my second degree from U. Mass/
Lowell in Music Education in 1990.
As a vocalist, I especially enjoy watching my students develop as singers and musicians through the elementary years. It is great to give them opportunities to sing, move, dance, improvise, read and write music, learn about composers and instrumental music and grow musically. What I love most about Music is that it gives us a way to express every part of ourselves--body, mind and spirit. It is one of the few experiences in which we use our whole brain and is such a crucial part of a good education.
Outside of school I also sing in my Church Choir and am a Girl Scout co-leader and founder of the Westford Girl Scout Chorus. I enjoy spending time with my family which includes my husband, two daughters, our American Eskimo puppy, a sweet gray cat and many fish.
